Wireless SecurityAll of the wireless communications used in Maco Lighting's wireless networks are designed to be easily and securely encrypted. This prevents malicious third parties from remotely intercepting or interfering with any wireless devices.
While the IEEE 802.15.4 standard does not specify a particular encryption method, it supports implementation specific encryption. Maco Lighting has chosen Zigbee because it allows the use of 128-bit AES encryption to secure the wireless communication. 128-bit AES encryption has been approved by the NSA for protection of SECRET level information. AES encryption is also commonly used to encrypt secure communication over the internet for online monetary transactions and secure connections to web pages. The wireless encryption is automatically implemented and network security keys can be easily and securely changed using the network controller. |
