Mobile Web Application

An image of the Mobile Web Application running on an iPhone

What is it?

The Maco Lighting Mobile Web Application allows any web enabled mobile device to have access to the control system. It allows easy configuration of both wired and wireless DALI devices. Installers familiar with this product would find this method fast and efficient.

Advantages

By using a standard web interface the control functions of the NGW are accessible from many off-the-shelf devices that are already used for more common purposes. The mobile formatted application makes this interface easily accessible by devices with smaller screens such as iPhones and Android smartphones.

Using this device allows a single installer to commission a job without returning to the control system or the server PC. This reduces the commissioning time, which effectively reduces the installation costs

Features

The application includes a number of functions designed to help with commissioning and maintenance of the system. Some of the included features are:

  • Physical selection of devices
  • Remote testing and identification of devices
  • Name and Location setting
  • Remote status updates
  • Reduces the requirement to return to the server
  • Allows a user to update the status of the device in the field.

Commissioning a Device

Mobile Commission Selection Page

Selection

The commissioning page of the mobile application allows the user to physically select a device to configure by simply pressing the test switch. The commission page then automatically updates to show the configuration details of the selected device.

When the user enter this mode, The system waits until a user presses the test switch of a connected device.

During selection a troubleshooting page is available to help deal with any difficulties that may arise while commissioning the network. The troubleshooting section deals with the most common reasons for any difficulties and has simple solutions for them. It also contains information on how to interpret physical status indicators on the devices themselves.

Mobile Commision Details

 Configuration

Once the device has been selected the user can easily adjust the details of the device such as name, location and level. The name of the device is read directly from the device itself, This reduces the problems and time associated with entering this information manually The location field is used to describe where the device can be found (for example room 2.14).

The level field is used to track the floor of the building that the device is on.

The physical address refers to the fitting number, which is assigned by the installer. This number is a physical representation of the device's location and should be marked on the building plans accordingly. Typically a good method would be to mark the plan with the numbers first, in a logical and ordered method. Then, when the installer commissions the device, the device's number can be entered into the physical address field

The page also shows details of the device such as:
